Managing products is the foundation of effective inventory control in Telesto. This guide covers all the essential operations for adding, editing, and removing products from your inventory system.
- Navigate to Products from the main screen
- Tap the red plus (+) icon at the bottom right
- Fill in the required fields:
- Product Name: Required - descriptive name for your item
- UPC/EAN: Required - unique identifier or barcode
- Complete optional fields as needed (see field reference below)
- Tap the red Save button at the bottom right
For faster product creation:
- From the main screen, tap the red plus (+) icon
- Select "Add Product" from the menu
- Complete the form and save
- Product Name: Clear, descriptive name
- UPC/EAN: Unique identifier for tracking
- Purchase Price & Selling Price: For cost tracking and profit analysis
- Category: Organize products into groups
- Suppliers: Track where you purchase this item
- Critical Stock Level: Get low stock alerts
- Overstock Limit: Set maximum stock level warnings
- Stock on Hand: Initial inventory quantities by warehouse
- Mark as inactive: Hide from active reports while preserving data
- Obsolete date: Set when item should be marked obsolete
- Notice period: Alert timeframe before obsolete date
Auto-Generated UPC/EAN:
If you don't use UPC/EAN codes, let Telesto generate unique identifiers automatically. Go to Settings → General → "Hide the UPC/EAN" and save your changes.
Duplicate Similar Products:
Save time by duplicating existing products. In the Add Product screen, tap the duplicate icon (double-bag) in the top right, select a product to copy, then modify the UPC/EAN and other details as needed.
- Go to Products from the main screen
- Tap on the product you want to edit
- Make your changes in the product details screen
- Tap the red Save button to apply changes
Fields That Cannot Be Changed:
Once set, Measurement Type and Unit fields cannot be modified. Plan these carefully when creating products. If you need to change these, you'll need to create a new product.
Telesto offers three methods to delete products, depending on your needs:
- In the Products list, swipe left on the product you want to remove
- Tap the Delete button that appears
- Confirm the deletion in the prompt
- Open the product you want to delete
- Scroll to the bottom of the product details screen
- Tap the Delete icon
- Confirm the deletion
- In the Products list, long-press on any product for 2-3 seconds
- Multi-selection mode will activate
- Tap additional products to select them
- Tap the brown Delete icon at the bottom right
- Confirm the bulk deletion
Desktop Users:
On the Desktop Edition, right-click on a product to access the multi-selection mode instead of long-pressing.
When deleting products, Telesto will ask whether to keep transaction history:
- Keep Transactions: Choose this for products that have been used in orders or stock movements. This preserves the integrity of your sales reports and transaction history.
- Delete Transactions: Only choose this for test products that were never used in real business operations.
Warning:
Deleting transactions will affect the accuracy of your historical reports, sales data, and inventory tracking. Only delete transactions if you're certain the product was created for testing purposes.
If you're testing Telesto and want to start fresh:
- Go to Settings → User/Profile tab
- Tap Data
- Select "Delete all products"
- Confirm the action
Caution:
This action will permanently delete ALL products and their associated transaction history. Only use this option if you want to completely reset your inventory system.
